‘Toy Story’ actor and comedy legend Don Rickles dies aged 90
The Film Doctor team send our love to the family, friends and spirit of Don Rickles, the Toy Story and Casino actor who has passed away today at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 90.
Longtime publicist and friend Paul Shefrin said Rickles died Thursday (April 6) of kidney failure at his home in Los Angeles, US, according to reports.
Rickles was born in Queens, NYC and got his first break in 1957 when Sinatra watched him perform in Hollywood. “Make yourself at home, Frank,” Rickles said to him. “Hit somebody.” Sinatra allegedly laughed so hard that he fell off his chair.
Sinatra, Dean Martin and other members of the well-known showbiz circle called the Rat Pack soon became big fans and friends of his. And the rest is history…

Known as the world’s greatest insult comic, Rickles’ career spanned decades where he did everything from performing stand-up to movie acting. His major film roles include the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the hugely successful Toy Story film series and Billy Sherbert in Scorsese’s epic crime drama Casino. He also co-starred with Clint Eastwood in Kelly’s Heroes.
