Oscar-winning director Andrzej Wajda dies, age 90
The Film Doctor team send our love to the family, friends and spirit of Andrzej Wajda, the legendary Polish filmmaker who directed over 40 films and has passed away aged 90.

Andrzej was best known for Ashes and Diamonds, Kanal, Man of Marble and Man of Iron amongst many others.
Close collaborator Daniel Olbrychski – who worked on 13 of Andrzej’s films as an actor – said: “We could feel the love of our audience through him. But when he frowned just a little, I knew I had to try and do it better.”
Former Poland Primer Minister Donald Tusk said: “We all stem from Wajda. We looked at Poland and at ourselves through him. And we understood better. Now it will be more difficult.”
And Head of the Polish Filmmaker’s Association, Jacek Bromski, said: “He was one of the greatest Polish artists, one of the best-known in the world. Poland was his passion.
“For us, for the community he was a pillar of strength, everybody gathered around him. He was always present in the life of the film-making community, he was a mentor, a paragon.”
RIP Andrzej.
