Fun Fridays – Director’s Favourite Films – Remembering Richard Attenborough
Hello Film Doctor friends.
This week started rather somberly, with the loss of yet another film titan, Sir Richard Attenborough.
He had a long, eventful life and an extremely prolific career, and we take our hats off to him.
The Film Doctor team dedicates this Fun Friday post to remembering Richard Attenborough (today would have been his birthday), so we look at the vast film legacy he left us with – as a Director:
- “Gandhi” (1982)
- “A Bridge Too Far” (1977)
- “Cry Freedom” (1987)
- “Chaplin” (1992)
…and, as an Actor:
- Dr. John Hammond in “Jurassic Park” (1993, dir. Steven Spielberg)
- Lt. Richard Lexy in “The League of Gentlemen” (1960, dir. Basil Dearden)
- Pinkie Brown in “Brighton Rock” (1947, dir. John Boulting)
- Kris Kringle in “Miracle On 34th Street” (1994, dir. Les Mayfield)
- Squadron Leader Roger Bartlett / ‘Big X’ in “The Great Escape” (1963, dir. John Sturges)
- Sir William Cecil in “Elizabeth” (1998, dir. Shekhar Kapur)
- “The Old Gentleman” in “The Railway Children” (2000, dir. Catherine Morshead)
