Fun Fridays – Director’s Favourite Films – Neil Blomkamp

Good morning Film Doctor friends.  Spring seems to be finally making its way to at least some of us), so we’re expecting many inspirational walks in the sun ahead. For now, we have a dose of inspiration, as always,  from our “Director’s Favourite Films” Fun Fridays post.

The Film Doctor team know that it is not all about the “revered masters of the cinema” – the new generation of filmmakers can be just as insightful.

That said, with the hotly anticipated sci-fi thriller “Elysium”,  sneak peak released a few days ago, this Friday we turn to Director Neil Blomkamp.

Starting out in the VFX department, Blomkamp’s feature-length directorial debut came 4 years ago with “District 9″.  Looking at his own repertoire, this comes as no surprise:

“Favourite movie of all time” Aliens (dir. James Cameron) – after citing this sequel as his personal  favourite, Blomkamp gave another interview confession: “What Elysium doesn’t have that I’d like to put in the next film, is there’s no slime and eggs. It’s missing slime and eggs.”
