U.K. film distributor Metrodome declare insolvency, Sales Agent Fortissimo Films shuts
UK distributor Metrodome entertainment have gone into administration and laid off numerous staff according to several sources within the company, report Screen International and Variety.
The company – which was founded in 1995 – have not yet released a statement but accountancy firm Cowgill Holloway are understood to be handling affairs.
They have Kristen Stewart picture “Personal Shopper” slated for release in October.
This comes after earlier news that Fortissimo Films – who have acted as sales agents for films by Wong-Kar Wai and Jim Jarmusch – are closing after 20 years in the business.
Fortissimo – who are based in Hong Kong and Amsterdam – were believed to have been seeking finance for several years before handing in their voluntary bankruptcy on Tuesday, according to Variety.
Over the years their films have won awards at Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Sundance – including Jennifer Lawrence launch vessel “Winter’s Bone.”
