Fun Fridays – Director’s Favourite Films – Triple Inspiration
Hello Film Doctor friends.
What a premiere-packed end of the week this is! First, we have Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s directorial feature-length debut “Don Jon” opening its UK nationwide run.
So we aptly include some of Gordon-Levitt’s movie picks in today’s Fun Friday listing:
- “Dr. Strangelove” (1964, dir. Stanley Kubrick)

Then, we have the new Jude Law-led picture, “Dom Hemingway” hitting the UK screens.
This calls for NYC film talent Richard Shepard :
-
- “The Godfather: Part II” (1974, dir. Francis Ford Coppola) – “my favourite movie of all time” (R. Shepard in an interview with Francis Rizzo for DVD Talk.com)
- “The French Connection” (1971, dir. William Friedkin)
- “Rushmore” (1998, dir. Wes Anderson)
- “The 47 Ronin” (1941, dir. Kenji Mizogochi)
- “Demon Lover Diary” (1980, dir. Joel DeMott)
And to top it off, the Film Doctor team revisits the slender personal favourites list of Ridley Scott – his latest project, “The Counsellor” is also on general release in the UK from today.
