Fun Fridays – Director’s Favourite Films – Ben Affleck
Hi Film Folk!
We hope you’re well and congratulations to those who took advantage of our Valentine’s Day 50% Off offer. We look forward to reading those scripts! For those who haven’t been in touch the offer is still on for today (Friday 15th), so get in touch!
ANYWAY! On to today’s Fun Friday.
This week’s Director’s Favourite Films is focusing on the multi-hyphenate talent that all of the industry and wider world have been talking about….
Having recently walked away with 2 BAFTA awards – including Best Director – Ben Affleck feels like a natural choice for this week’s Film Doctor’s Fun Fridays.
Affleck seems to have made a rather smooth transition from in-front-of to behind-the-camera. In a recent interview, he even admitted: “The scripts I get as a director are way more interesting than the ones I get as an actor . Or else maybe I have a different eye that I apply to it.”
His directorial inspirations come from some of the best heist & thriller movies in film history, both European & USA produced:
- Rififi (dir. Jules Dassin, 1955)
- Heat (dir. Michael Mann, 1995)
- The Usual Suspects (dir. Bryan Singer, 1995)
- The Killing (dir. Stanley Kubrick, 1956)
