FUN FRIDAYS – DIRECTOR’S FAVOURITE FILMS – GILLIAN ARMSTRONG

Hi Film Folk!

Today’s Film Doctor Fun Friday post comes on a Saturday because…it’s always good to be unpredictable, isn’t it?

Now it’s about time we had a female director at the heart of our Fun Fridays – Director’s Top Films, so this week we have chosen ‘Australian New Wave’ director Gillian Armstrong.

Gillian Armstrong

Armstrong is renowned for making strong and almost un-pigeon hole-able films, including Charlotte Gray and Little Women.

Here is her list of favourite films:

1. Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941)

2. Raging Bull (Scorsese, 1980)

3. La Strada (Fellini, 1954)

4. The Godfather Part II (Coppola, 1974)

5. Rashomon (Kurosawa, 1951)

6. Chinatown (Polanski, 1974)

7. Bicycle Thieves (De Sica, 1948)

8. 8 1/2 (Fellini, 1963)
